The Food department performs following functions:

Procurement

-Procurement of wheat form various PASSCO centres in Punjab.

Transportation

-Transportation of wheat from PASSCO centres to base go-down Islamabad.
-Transportation of wheat from base go-down Islamabad to various depots in Gilgit- Baltistan.

Storage

- Storage of wheat in Civil Supplies depots and issuance of wheat to flour mills as per standing orders.

Distribution

-Distribution of subsidized wheat/flour to dealers as per SOPs.

Monitoring

- Strict monitoring over dealers in order to ensure fair distribution.
- Control over the flour mills.
- Testing of food samples in Food Lab.

Implementation of Food Laws

-Implementation of Food Laws as per Gilgit-Baltistan Food Act 2021.
